so Katee Sackhoff has been doing a weekly "Battlestar React-ica" watch party with her husband on her youtube channel (they were calling it a "rewatch" except neither of them had ever really watched the entire thing). they recently just started season 2 and have already had special guests Tricia Helfer and Aaron Douglas joining them for the first couple of episodes - first season was just the two of them. they drop on Thursdays. it's pretty cool to get some of the behind-the-scenes info directly from the source.
so then i got jazzed to watch the series again. it used to be on peacock but now it's exclusively on paramount+ which is the only one we're not subscribed to and probably at this point never will since they're becoming the new FOX NEWS... even before the hostile governmental takeover, i was morally opposed to their streaming direction - the only ones not on HULU, the only ones who don't take part in Movies Anywhere, etc...
anyway, i have the entire series on DVD but am spoiled by streaming and don't want to deal with DVDs... like, what do you mean, i have to get up and take the disc out of the sleeve and put it in a machine and then push buttons to start it and then switch discs when i finish all those episodes?? so i took my old macbook, overwrote it with linux, installed jellyfin on it and ripped the entire series and now have my own streaming service for watching BSG (and have started digitizing the rest of our DVD collection as well, but that was the original impetus).
convinced my daughter to give it another try and now she's into it. we're halfway though season 1.
