If you accept that Anakin destroyed a Droid Control Ship when he was nine, you can't complain about this.

Although Anakin blowing up the Droid Control Ship borders on silly, I'd have to humbly disagree with you for four reasons:

1) It serves to highlight Anakin's incredible power level, if you somehow don't know it already. With Boba, he's just going to wind up a thug who stands around in cool armor until he falls into a vagina dentata and dies.

2) It is partly dumb luck on Anakin's part that he succeeds, Force or no.

3) There's a parallel between Anakin and Luke having very similar experiences early on. Boba, again, is just going to die a chump and there's no reason to draw a parallel with Luke or Anakin.

4) It expands upon the reason Vader essentially disobeys Tarkin in ANH and takes his personal wingmen to fight the X-Wings. You now know he's thinking, "They got the plans for this thing, and they're launching little tiny ships that seemingly have no chance? Fuck me, there is a danger, because I pulled that same shit off when I was a kid."

Boba was shooting the reactor (or something like that) from the inside just to fuck it up (since his first assassination attempt on Mace didn't work), and the ship got ripped apart from the explosions and landed on nearby Vanqor. Right before he started shooting, the episode was dealing with his identity and how he wanted to separate himself from other clones. Seriously, it's very, very good stuff and more than makes up for his limited characterization in AOTC and no-show in ROTS . . . but if you'd still rather just dislike it without watching it, it's your loss. (How's Game of Thrones going, by the way? )

At this point in the show, Aurra Sing and Bossk are piloting the Slave I. They pick up Boba at the end of the episode (and the ship is destroyed in the next episode, rebuilt by Hondo, and doesn't show up again until three seasons later and Boba doesn't even pilot it then).

I honestly can see how it sounds goofy – I mean, Starkiller fucking ripping one out of the sky is pretty goddamn goofy – but it's not what it's about, it's how it's about it, to paraphrase the late Mr. Ebert. Long story short, these Clone Wars episodes serve to finally give Boba a more interesting motivation and make him into an actual character, which is why I like them so much.

When you are 7 years old in 1980 and you see a guy in cool armor hang out with Darth Vader then go out and capture Han Solo, that's all you need to prove that a guy is cool. That, and an action figure. Maybe part of his popularity was due to the mystery behind him. Then, ROTJ happened. I still think Lucas overcompensated for that by forcing Boba Fett into the ANH remix.

Now, I'm not going to go out and defend Boba Fett or his fanboys, but he was pretty cool back in the day. And, after watching old episodes of other 80s cartoons (GI Joe, Transformers, etc) I grew up watching and seeing some of the stuff my kids watch, I realized that all kids are dumb and like stupid things.

There is still a nostalgia factor to certain things for me, but I realize they aren't as good now as I thought they were back then.

Hilarious & true, Ran. I tell people loving Star Wars is like loving your own kids - of course you love them, they're you and they've meant something to you since your life was very different & a lot less complicated.

To everyone else however, they're just kids - and some kids are stupid, some are loud & some shit their pants. Not everyone likes kids.

all that aside, Boba's crowning moment of awesome is that Vader turns to him and has to specify that there are to be "No disintegrations!"

Boba was fucking awesome in ESB, no doubt.

You'd think they'd realize that ditching the mystery ruined both Boba and Wolverine.

Boba Fett has a million page backstory yet we don't really know Yoda's species. I doubt they're keeping it "mysterious". They just don't care about a background and minor character like Yoda when you've got ZOMG awesome armor and weapons!

Yoda's species actually is one of the few things George didn't want to reveal. Though who knows if that'll change now that he's not in charge...

Rian Johnson is writing/directing Episodes 8 and 9. Discuss.

He's a great choice. I loved Looper and he's done some great episodes of Breaking Bad.

Yoda's not a Whill. That's just a fan theory. The Force Priestesses in the last arc of TCW were discussed as possibly being Whills at one point but were left ambiguous.

And Johnson seems to be writing and directing VIII, but only writing the treatment for IX. Keep in mind this is still not confirmed – but it's looking very likely. I haven't seen his movies, but his Breaking Bad episodes are among the best, so he'd be the director I'm most looking forward to out of the four they've got planned.

They should let Weird Al do (or heavily contribute to) a Star Wars comedy.

Harrison Ford broke his leg on the Millenium Falcon. If this isn't a bad, bad sign I don't know what is. They should say "Psych!" and cancel the whole shebang right now, realizing less is more when it comes to Star Wars.
